Ginger Hotel is about to open up near the underpass on Mumbai Highway. The building is complete , I could see the board during one of my morning jogs. Ratan Tata had recently described Ginger as nano Taj. My gut feel is good hotels lead to development of demand for better consummables. This is a good sign

Oh yes! I have tried Soul curry for break fast 6 months back. The staff was disinterested and lousy.

Last month few of my company mates went their and recount horrible dining experience there.

May be the place is good in flashes and inconsistent

There is a saying in Sanskrit which when translated means - " THere is no harmony without fear " Here the way we penalize the offender leaves a lot desired .. Say for an offender like Anil Nanda ( Grandson of an admiral who crushed 5 men under his BMW) paltry traffic fines dont mean anything. With economic might he can but witnesses, police and all. He did go to some of the best schools possible.
What I admire about US is that there are non monetary fines like community service. Every minor traffic offender may be made to do supervised community service of say 50 hours staggered over a month. This may be used to clean up streets, dig trenches to pave way for new roads etc or may be catch other similar offenders. This will generate a lot of resources to complete public projects on time. Also dignity of labor will be restored.

Your observation are very good and puts me into rethinking.

1. WHO advisory on travel [citation needed] mentions that people visiting South Asia can eat street food following certain guidelines. Example , eat those foods which a lot of local population is eating( This ensures that you wont get stale or rotten stuffand the vendor is trusted by lot locals as not to create gastro diseases) , see that its boiling hot( this ensures that germs are killed), etc. There was a suggestion in Delhi to give licenses to all street food vendors and ensure that every month they go for FFI check ( Free from infection. This can institutionsalize this. Anil Ambani when once asked about his favorite cuisine has promptly sweared , " Veg street food in India. A little risk some time adds more color to life.

2. These I mean export surplus, rejects ( with very minor defect) which are available at 1/4th of showroom price but nearly same quality. This brings in a lot of fashionistas( Not having thick wallets) to a place. Janpath in Delhi and Fashion street in Bombay are examples

3 .I mean local musicians.. I have heard some musicians in Jodhpur playing Ravan hatha ( A local violin kind of instrument..) It makes you smell the culture of that city as folk tunes are played..
